Coming to Kelowna with your best furry friend and want to enjoy the hot summer days on the lake together? These four activities will cool you and your pooch off:
Paddleboarding
Bring your paddleboard when heading to one of Kelowna’s Dog Beaches! A popular dog beach in the area is Cedar Creek Park in the Mission neighbourhood. Don’t forget to bring a lifejacket for you and one for your furry best friend.
Kayaking and Canoeing
You might also want to try kayaking or canoeing with your dog! If you’re camping at Bear Creek Provincial Park, Okanagan Beach Rentals will allow you to bring your dog on the water with you if you are renting a canoe, kayak or a pedal boat.
Swimming
Cool off on hot summer days with a dip in the lake. One of our favourite places to go swimming with our dogs is at Gellatly Dog Beach. You can even bring a picnic to this park as there are benches and tables on-site for you and your four-legged friend. Kalamoir Park is also a great option with two dog beach areas that are only 10 minutes from Downtown Kelowna.
Rent a Boat
You may have seen the circular orange boats on the lake near Downtown Kelowna. These are vessels that you can rent from Maeg’s BBQ Boats. If you choose to take their private 45-minute captained lake tour, you can bring Fido! Starting at $25 per person, this is an affordable way to get you and your dog out into the middle of Okanagan Lake.
Have fun staying cool on the water with your family pet. Just remember never leave your dog in a warm car - the interior temperature can get dangerously hot in just a few minutes on an Okanagan summer day.
