Golf isn't just about the game; it's also about the experience. One of the many great aspects of golfing is the snack shack, the beloved fueling spot for golfers. After hitting a few shots, there's nothing quite like stopping to grab a bite to rejuvenate your energy and prepare you for the back nine.

In Kelowna, this experience is elevated with 19 golf courses, each offering their own unique and scrumptious items. Whether you're craving a savoury snack or a refreshing drink, these snack shacks provide an array of delicious options to satisfy your taste buds.

Personally, I like to say that I golf, but in reality, I cherish tagging along with my partner in the cart. It's a wonderful way to be outside, soak in the beautiful scenery, and most importantly, indulge in the delectable treats each snack shack has to offer. The snack shacks in Kelowna make every golfing trip a food adventure, here are 5 must-tries with drink pairings on our list!

Black Mountain Golf Club: Homey Pierogies paired with Britannia Brewing's Deckhand Draught Lager

Homey Perogies at Black Mountain Golf Club

Who knew that golf and pierogies could make such a perfect pairing? At Black Mountain Golf Club, we were pleasantly surprised by their "Homey Pierogis." These delectable treats feature crispy, pan-fried pierogies topped with caramelized onions and real bacon bits, served with a side of creamy sour cream. Each bite offers a delightful contrast of textures, with the crispy exterior giving way to a soft and creamy interior. Adding to the appeal, these pierogies are locally made in Oliver, BC, ensuring a fresh and authentic taste. They paired wonderfully with Britannia Brewing's Deckhand Lager, which is bright and crisp with a light malt sweetness and a refreshingly dry finish.

Shannon Lake Golf Course: Loaded Hotdog and Boozy Arnold Palmer made with local Indigenous Vodka

Shannon Lake Golf Course Snack Shack Food

Nothing beats a good old loaded hotdog at Shannon Lake Golf Course. This timeless classic has been a staple on golf courses for years. The hotdog we tried was incredibly juicy and perfectly seasoned, loaded with fresh onions, ketchup, and mustard. The bun was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, creating a perfect vessel for the flavourful fillings. We paired it with the Boozy Arnold Palmer made with local Indigenous vodka, a sweet and refreshing drink that perfectly balanced the hotdog's saltiness and the mustard's tanginess. It was the ideal combination for a satisfying and delicious break after the front nine.

Shadow Ridge Golf Club: Tacos on the Turn and Freddy's Brewpub Sandbagger Ale

Shadow Ridge Golf Club Tacos

The "Tacos on the Turn" at Shadow Ridge Golf Club were a great surprise to find at a golf course snack shack. These chicken tacos were bursting with flavour and topped with crunchy greens, adding a refreshing texture to each bite. The chicken was exceptionally tender and flavourful, and they even provided Valentina's hot sauce for an extra kick (a must for any taco lover!). We paired the tacos with Freddy's Brewpub Sandbagger Ale, a surprisingly delicious combination. The chocolate and caramel notes of the ale cleansed the palate with each bite and helped counteract the spiciness of the hot sauce. And at only $8.40 for three tacos, it was a steal!

Michaelbrook Golf: The Brook Burger & Local White Wine

Michaelbrook Golf Brook Burger

The Brook Burger at Michaelbrook quickly became a favourite for my partner! Each bite was juicy and packed with flavour, featuring two charbroiled 4 oz beef patties, cheddar cheese, mixed greens, tomato, onion, dill pickles, house sauce, and a toasted brioche bun. The accompanying fries were very crispy, adding a perfect crunch to the meal. We also sampled their snack-shack item, a tasty variation of a McDouble, ideal for a quick and satisfying bite and head back to play. To complement our meal, we enjoyed BNA Brewing's Purple Rain beer, a refreshing blackberry sour that perfectly balanced the burger's richness.

Okanagan Golf Club: Samosa and My Neighbourhood Pub's Way of Life Hazy IPA

Okanagan Golf Club Samosa and Beer

Another unique snack shack item at the Okanagan Golf Club was the Samosa. Filled with tender, well-spiced beef, this savoury treat was a nice change from the usual fare. The crunch of the outside met with the explosion of flavour made it a satisfying treat. The staff recommended pairing it with the Way of Life Hazy IPA from My Neighbourhood Brewing. With Citra and Amarillo hops, the beer offered big notes of papaya, pineapple, and mandarin orange, perfectly complementing the rich spices of the samosa.
