Bigger spaces, fewer faces is exactly what you’ll encounter on the ski hills near Kelowna this season, along with that famous Okanagan Champagne Powder. To ensure physical distancing Big White and SilverStar have introduced many new health and safety protocols. Day passes must be purchased in advance at both resorts. At SilverStar, you also must reserve your parking spot before heading to the hill. These measures will make sure that townsites, lines, and runs are at an appropriate capacity keeping everyone safe.

Find out more about the new measures this season here, including mandatory masks.

Try the Trails

Cross-Country Skiing at Kelowna Nordic Centre (4)

Kelowna's mild winter temperatures mean that being active outdoors is a year-round possibility. In the winter, try snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on the many trails in and around the city with your household. If you're new to the activity, be sure to research the level of difficulty, COVID-19 health and safety protocols, and the type of gear you'll need before heading out to make sure you can make the most of these fun winter activities.

Supporting local cafes, restaurants, bakerieswineries, breweries, cideries, and distilleries is extremely important at this time of year, and now more than ever during the pandemic. Try visiting one of these businesses with heated and covered patios or if you're not comfortable visiting in person, consider ordering take-out or delivery. Many businesses are offering special seasonal dishes and deals that will make for the perfect treat during the winter or purchase a gift card to give loved ones you may not be able to see in person right now to enjoy at a later date.
