It's pumpkin season, which means it's time to start making pumpkin pies and carving jack o’ lanterns. Interesting fact, the pumpkin had been grown in North America for over 5,000 years! I did a poll on my Instagram to see how much people loved or hate pumpkin - the result was a 60/40 split with people loving pumpkin. Hopefully, I can convert more people onto pumpkins!

Smashing Pumpkins

Smashing Pumpkin Cocktail

  • 2oz Okanagan Spirits BRBN Whiskey
  • 0.75oz maple syrup
  • 1oz lemon juice
  • 1 spoon pumpkin puree
  • 1 small pinch garam masala spice
  • Garnish lemon wheel if you want or nothing

In a shaker, add the pumpkin puree, BRBN whiskey, lemon juice, maple syrup, and a small pinch of the garam masala. Add lots of ice to fill the shaker and shake hard until nice and cold. Strain into a rock glass filled with ice. I recommend double straining with a tea strainer to remove the small bits of pumpkin and spices so you can enjoy a much cleaner cocktail. Garnish with a lemon wheel if desired.

The pumpkin puree is so easy to make, simply throw pumpkin chunks and a little water into a blender and process until smooth. That’s how easy it is! This will keep in the fridge for a week.

Pumpkin Gimlet

Pumpkin Gimlet Cocktail

  • 1.5oz Okanagan Spirits Essential Gin
  • 0.5oz Lillet Blanc
  • 1oz lime juice
  • 0.75oz simple syrup
  • 1 spoon pumpkin puree
  • 4 dashes of olive oil
  • Garnish 1 half rosemary sprig

In a shaker, add the pumpkin puree, the Gin, Lillet Blanc, lime juice, simple syrup, a rosemary sprig, and a few dashes of olive oil. Add lots of ice in the shaker and shake hard until nice and cold. Again, with this cocktail double strain into any glass, you like and garnish with some rosemary.
