Jason Chan, a content creator based in Kelowna, brings a unique perspective to the Okanagan community. Originally from Hong Kong, Jason moved to Kelowna in 2010 to pursue his artistic side at UBCO's Fine Arts program. After graduating, he found himself drawn to the Okanagan lifestyle and landed a job in the wine industry. However, Jason's passion for storytelling and video production eventually led him down a different path – content creation.
Jason started creating content as a hobby that grew from his love of acting and video production. However, Jason soon realized that it could be much more than that. "There are lots of amazing businesses in the community and I want to shine a light on their efforts. Living in Kelowna, I see all these people every day, they are my friends and neighbours. Everyone has an interesting story and I want to help them tell it." Jason's content highlights the heart and soul of Kelowna – the businesses and the people who make the city special. He finds inspiration in the everyday experiences living in the Okanagan. This local focus allows him to share their stories in an authentic and engaging way.

Beyond content creation, Jason enjoys exploring all that Kelowna has to offer. "I love visiting different restaurants and attending local events. Summertime on Bernard is great with the Meet Me on Bernard program. It's nice to be able to walk downtown and see everyone out enjoying the sunshine." Winter finds him carving fresh tracks at Big White, while summer transforms Kelowna into a longboarder's paradise, with Knox Mountain and other areas becoming his personal playgrounds. Whether it's discovering new restaurants, attending local events, or indulging in his hobbies of snowboarding and longboarding, Jason is constantly soaking up the Okanagan vibes.

What truly defines Kelowna for Jason is its strong sense of community. Despite its growing city status, Kelowna retains a small-town feel where people know each other and genuinely look out for one another. "I am a big advocate for community. Although Kelowna is a city, I think it is small enough that people know each other. The sense that everyone is there for each other really brings out the best of what Kelowna has to offer." This sense of community is what resonates most with Jason, and it's a feeling he actively promotes through his content.
For first-time visitors, Jason offers three must-do experiences:
- Visit the Kelowna Farmers' and Crafters' Market: In the morning, grab a coffee at the Farmers' Market and visit all the local artisans, crafters, and farmers. Did you know that the Kelowna Farmers' and Crafters Market is the largest farmers market in BC?
- Check out Tantalus Vineyards: Stop by Tantalus Vineyards for a wine tasting and a stunning view of Kelowna.
- End Your Day at Kettle River Brewing: Grab a delicious dinner and a pint (or two) at Kettle River Brewing.
As a local, Jason has some insider tips: For the best food truck, visit Little Tokyo Ramen at Barn Owl Brewing in the Lower Mission. If you're looking for live music, definitely go to Red Bird Brewing. For wine, visit Tantalus Vineyards. For a hidden gem, check out The Sandwich Company at the Landmark District!
