Beer, wine, cider, and spirits... all within and easy-to-walk 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) with some great stops along the way to eat, shop, snap photos and soak in city vibes.

Okanagan Spirits Distillery

Located downtown not far from the Sails, this was a fun stop and a new experience for me as we sampled spirits and liqueurs made from locally grown fruit. They have a large selection to choose from, so we didn't get to try it all. We'll have to go back. A bunch of times.

Tree Brewing Beer Institute

A beautiful walk along the boardwalk brought us to a regular favourite of mine, Tree Brewing Beer Institute. I come for the board game lounge and stay for the craft beers. We often grab a bite to eat here as well and then fill up a growler or two to take with us.

BNA Brewing Co.

A couple blocks away is another tasting room that never disappoints. The service is great, the couch comfortable, beer delicious and doors optional. If it's after 4:00 pm, you can also pop next door for some great food.

Urban Distillery + Winery

A few minutes walk towards Knox Mountain you'll come upon Urban Distilleries, located in the industrial area of downtown Kelowna.  While it lives up to its name, this distillery serves up tastings of some pretty cool craft gins, vodkas, & whiskies that each have their own interesting stories.

Kettle River Brewing

Heading back towards the downtown core, you don't want to miss this is a great little tasting bar with small batch beers available for tasting or purchase. Ever heard of a chocolate milk stout? Head over there to find out more about this unique brew, and to try it for yourself on their newly opened patio.  Also newly opened in the hood and in the local beer scene is Red Bird Brewing Co (we didn't make it this time around but will next time)

Sandhill Winery

Continuing back towards downtown, you come across Sandhill Wines. I've driven past this cool looking building so many times that I was super happy to finally find out what was behind the great white wall. One step inside and I was Not disappointed. No wonder they call it Kelowna's Urban Winery. The contemporary space, architectural lines, tasting bar, barrel room, seating areas, and the decor are all amazing (and the wine is excellent too). Next door, the tasting bar at Calona Vineyards also pours tastings of wines such as the Wayne Gretzky label.

BC Tree Fruits Cidery

Not too far away you come across an iconic fruit brand for Kelowna, BC Tree Fruits. These guys have been in the fruit business for a long time so it's no surprise that they are also now in the fruit cider business. And they should be, their Broken Ladder products are delicious!  If you're looking for new ways to enjoy a taste of the Okanagan, a pack or two of their locally sourced and made cider may be exactly what you need.
