As part of BC Wine Month, we are going to be featuring wineries from Kelowna’s distinct wine trails. You may not be able to visit them right now for tastings and tours, but you can still order wine for delivery or pick up if you're already in Kelowna, and add them to your list for when we’re able to visit them again.
Kelowna’s Southeast Bench is known for its rolling hills, bucolic fields, and winding country roads, and the wineries that pepper this corner of Kelowna live up to the area.
Most of the wineries and tasting rooms along the southeast Kelowna bench are on the smaller side and tend to be family-owned, and they all share a rural, cool, and funky farm feel to them. Explore the wineries along this trail for robust Pinot Noirs, sweet Rosés, and delicious Sparkling wines.
The new kid on the block, Priest Creek Family Estate Winery has literally just opened its doors on the southeast bench. With beautiful mountain vistas in every direction, a picnic area, and a boutique-style tasting room, the winery will become a must-visit on the trail. Check out their website for discount purchases and 6 and 12 mixer packs of wines.
SpearHead, named one of Canada’s Top 10 Small Wineries at the National Wine Awards in 2019, focuses on premium quality wine produced from grapes grown on their estate vineyard and from selected Okanagan Valley vineyards. You can currently pick up wine by appointment and they are offering discounts on delivery. View their website for more details.
Beautiful and quaint, House of Rose is surrounded by vineyards and orchards. All their wines are 100% vegan, Okanagan grown and crafted, hand-picked, and soft pressed. They have just launched the 2019 Rose-eh! which is available for pick up from the tasting room, along with the rest of their wines. Check their website for further information on pick-up and delivery options.
Built on history, and committed to quality, The View Winery is tucked into an authentic 1920s-era vintage building, which was an apple packing house for generations. They offer award-winning, aromatic, cool-climate whites and fruit-forward, spicy reds. The winery is open for drive-through purchases or you can visit the online store.
Want to carry on exploring this beautiful area of Kelowna? Along this trail, you'll also find Kitsch Wines, Camelot Vineyards, The Vibrant Vine, Nagging Doubt Winery, Meadow Vista Honey Wines, and Frequency Winery. If you want to mix it up a little bit, there are also two distilleries that are definitely worth a visit: Wiseacre Farm Distillery and Forbidden Spirits Distilling.
