British Columbia is now in Phase 3 of the provincial restart plan and that means that accommodators are able to return to business, but it's not quite business as usual. To ensure the safety and comfort of guests and staff, many hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and more have adapted their businesses. Below are some the new experiences and protocols you may see in place the next time you stay overnight in Kelowna. 


Increased cleaning of public spaces

All accommodations are working with their teams and within public safety guidelines to keep high touch surfaces and public spaces properly sanitized using new equipment and sanitizing agents.

Several organizations have safety teams in place to review and adapt cleaning and sanitization protocols as things progress during the pandemic to ensure the safety of guests and staff.

Sanitizing stations and personal cleaning supplies will often be provided by the accommodator including cleaning wipes in rooms and sanitizer at entrances, elevators, and other public spaces like pools and fitness rooms.


New technologies

Those that are able to are offering new services like checking in and ordering room service on your phone through a mobile app instead of via the telephone in the room.

Like many other public businesses, there will be limited capacity in some spaces and physical distancing reminders including floor decals and arrows will direct the flow of traffic and show safe distances.


Housekeeping service changes

To reduce the number of encounters and people in a room, daily housekeeping will be upon request only for many accommodations.

Depending on the facility, all food providers must adhere to safety protocols set out by WorkSafe BC. Each food business must have their safety information posted publicly.

Please remember, each accommodation will have slightly different safety protocols depending on the size of their business, amenities available, and staffing levels.  When booking be sure you know the cancellation or refund policy of the business and ask them for more information on their safety plan.
