With current provincial health orders prohibiting indoor dining, the food and beverage industry has once again pivoted their operations to be able to serve their customers and support their staff. By continuing to support your favourites or trying someplace new you're helping those in your community get through these strange, and often difficult, times.
1. Order Take Away
Pick it up yourself or get it delivered. The vast majority of restaurants in Kelowna and area have adapted so you can eat on the go, at home, or even take it out to a park or a beach for a picnic. It's as easy as visiting a website, calling direct, or checking a delivery app.
2. Order Breakfast & Lunch
Take out and delivery isn't just for dinner! Restaurants that traditionally serve meals early or throughout the day are still offering patio dining or take away, so there's no reason to miss out on breakfast or brunch, or lunch. ;)
3. Dine Al Fresco
As we know businesses that can accommodate it have opened their patios. Many have extended their operating hours and the physical footprint of their outdoor space to allow for outdoor dining in a safe environment. And don't forget, the patio is great on bright, sunny days, but they can be just as fun in the evenings or on cooler days as many have heaters, just be sure to bring a blanket and dress for the weather to make sure you're comfortable.
4. Treat Yourself During the Week
Dining out isn't just for the weekend, take a break and have someone else do the cooking for you by ordering in or hitting a patio during the week. Hours and days of operation differ based on each business, but with so many restaurants it's easy to find something that will feed your craving any day of the week in Kelowna.
5. Participate in Canada Takeout Day on April 15
Restaurant support goes national on April 15! Help to hit a Canadian record for the most takeout orders made in one day by ordering from your favourite, or a few of your favourite, local businesses.
6. Purchase Beverages
If you're ordering takeaway, consider ordering drinks too. Many restaurants have a lot of wine, beer, pop, and even take home mocktail and cocktail kits on hand that you can order with your meal to make it extra special.
7. Buy Gift Cards or Merchandise
If indoor dining is your preferred way to support local restaurants, why not consider purchasing a gift card now for use later in the year? This is an easy way to help businesses make it through a difficult time and you have something to look forward to once the time comes when restaurants are able to seat customers inside again. Many businesses also sell merch, consider stocking up to represent your favourites.
8. Like, Share, Comment, and Show Support
Giving a shout out on social media, in-person, or through a review is an easy and quick way to show those businesses that you love that all their hard work is appreciated.
