Kelowna, known for its sunshine-filled summers, clear lakes, and sandy beaches, offers beautiful cabins nestled in recreational areas. From cozy and rustic to amenity-filled log cabins, pack up your fishing gear and s’mores kits and check out these fantastic cabin spots in and around Kelowna.

Beaver Lake Mountain Resort

Cabins at Beaver Lake Resort

Located just outside Lake Country, this mountain lake resort caters to nature enthusiasts from mid-May to mid-October. There are 22 cabins, with options accommodating groups as small as two and as large as eight. Prefer camping in your own tent or RV? You can do that, too!

While each cabin has essential cooking tools, you’ll also find a wood-burning stove for heat, a propane stove for cooking, and refrigerators in the newer cabins. Looking for something more rustic? You’ll want to check out their heritage log cabins, which only include cold running water, outdoor toilets, and bare-boned design.

Outdoor activities at the resort include fishing, boating, hiking, and swimming. Although Beaver Lake is primarily a fishing spot, it has a small beach and swimming dock. Furry friends are welcome; there is even a dog park where they can run unleashed.

Boat rentals include motorboats, paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks. You may also rent fishing equipment. What elevates this campground into a resort is that it has a wellness retreat. Be sure to book some relaxation time in the Finnish Sauna or enjoy one of the wellness treatments, including massages and reflexology.

Nestled in nature along the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) sits Chute Lake Lodge, providing a range of accommodation options, including cabins, lodge rooms, yurts, and glamping tents. Complete with heat, electricity, and modern furniture, the log cabins at Chute Lake Lodge can accommodate groups of 2 to 6 people. They are also dog-friendly!

There are endless outdoor activities to take advantage of while staying at the lodge. You can go fishing, rent e-bikes to explore the KVR trail or get out on the lake in a paddleboard, canoe, kayak, or rowboat.

Chute Lake Lodge is open year-round for those who like to camp in the winter. Activities during the snowy season include ice fishing, snowshoeing, and star gazing.

Headwaters Family Camp

Ten rustic lakeside cabins, situated alongside Headwater Lakes less than 30 minutes northwest of Peachland, are ready to accommodate groups of two to eight. Each cabin contains a wood-burning stove, propane cooktops, basic cooking utensils, and a fire pit. The cabins are close to each other, perfect for large family and friend gatherings. There are also 14 campsites that can accommodate motorhomes and trailers.

On the property, you’ll find a playground for those with young children and boat rentals that are perfect for a day out on the lake. A small store onsite is open seasonally, selling fishing supplies, basic groceries, snacks, and more. Pets are welcome, but must be kept on-leash at all times.

Idabel Lake Private Residences & Cottages

Located 30 minutes outside Kelowna on Idabel Lake, you'll find year-round suites, cottages, and cabins, perfect for a summertime getaway or winter escape. If you prefer camping, you’ll find opportunities to park your RV or trailer and set up camp between July and September.

In the summer, enjoy a quiet, non-motorized boat ride soaking in some lake views or reeling in some delicious trout. All accommodations are within walking distance of the central playground and community fire pit. You’ll even find indoor game rooms for rainy day activities and the outdoor courtyard, which includes soccer, volleyball and more.

During the winter, grab your skates and glide along the frozen lake, play a game of hockey, or even go ice fishing. The nearby Kelowna Nordic Ski & Snowshoe Club has 75 km of groomed ski trails and a separate 80 km trail system for snowshoeing—dogs are allowed on all snowshoe trails and 23 km of the ski trails. The Kelowna Snowmobile Club has one of the largest trail systems that also ties into Idabel Lake.

Postill Lake Lodge Fishing Resort

A hidden gem located between Kelowna and Vernon, Posthill Lake Lodge is home to 14 cottage and cabin rentals, available during the summer from May to October or through the winter, from November to the end of March. Choose your level of accommodation depending on how rustic you want your experience to be—cottages are fully self-contained with running water, toilets, showers, and fridges; cabins have cold running water and toilets; rustic cabins do not have running water.

While Postill Lake doesn’t have sandy beach access, there are many grassy spots to park your lawn chair and relax with your favourite summertime drink. Summer activities include swimming, mountain biking, hiking, and fishing. While fishing is prime on Postill Lake, you will also find five nearby wildness access lakes for those seeking more adventure.

They welcome pets and have a playground for children. The onsite store stocks the basics and sells satellite WiFi service for its guests, which is meant for basic tasks like e-mailing, not streaming or downloading large files.
