If you haven’t popped it into your calendar yet, you should do it right now - BreakOut West 2018 is just a little over two months away!
That’s right, the 16th annual smorgasboard of music is returning to Kelowna, and it is coming up fast.
For one amazing fall weekend (October 10th to 14th), there will be more than 60 of western Canada’s best emerging multi-genre artists playing at some of the coolest venues throughout downtown Kelowna.
If you love music and you love Kelowna, BreakOut West needs to be on your radar. For those who miss it, the FOMO will be real.
Wristbands for the music festival portion of the event (AKA the Showcase Festival), which runs October 11th to 13th, start at the incredibly reasonable $15 (or 25 cents per band) - this will get you into every festival venue! They can be purchased here or at the new Kelowna Visitor Centre.
BreakOut West Conference & Career Development
On top of that, BreakOut West presents an excellent networking opportunity for those interested in the music industry. Thanks to the career development conference and the awards ceremony celebrating the best of Western Canada’s music industry which are also a part of BreakOut West, there will be hundreds of music industry professionals descending upon Kelowna too.
This event is a big deal for our city. Kelowna previously hosted BreakOut West in 2010 and I attended as a music fan - I discovered new bands to enjoy and had a thoroughly brilliant time. I know I wasn’t the only one as it seemed as though BreakOut West was the talk of the town for a good while afterwards. Don’t let the 2018 edition pass you by!
Early Bird Conference pricing (for the entire festival, including access to the career development conference and more) is still available, but you will need to act fast - it ends on August 8th. You can purchase passes here. In addition, be sure to download the BreakOut West app to stay in the loop.
In short, BreakOut West 2018 is 128 live music performances, 84 speakers, 36 international delegates, 200 Canadian industry delegates, 21 conference sessions and 3 networking mixers all happening in Kelowna over just four days. I look forward to seeing you there!
