Guisachan Heritage Park is rich with history and character. It’s a beautiful park with lush flower beds surrounding the Guisachan House, originally built in 1891 as a summer home for the Earl and Countess of Aberdeen. Guisachan, or ‘Land of the Firs’ in Gaelic, was the name chosen for their new home.

I have been lucky enough to have tried a lot of outdoor activities in Kelowna in the last 25 years. In the winter, you will find me in the mountains skiing, snowboarding or on the cross country ski trails. During the spring and fall, I can be found golfing the greens, hiking, biking and running the incredible trail network in and around the valley. Okanagan Lake has seen me on water skis, wake boards and parasailing. But one sport has taken my heart - kiteboarding.

Hidden Gem: Chichester Wetland Park

Nestled in the heart of the Rutland Community, Chichester Wetland Park is a textbook example of a small remnant wetland. Wetlands are extremely rare in the arid Okanagan environment, comprising only about .02 per cent of the land base. They provide important wildlife habitat, help to prevent flooding and remove pollutants from water.
