This time of year is exciting for foragers, farmers, gardeners, and all enthusiasts of locally grown products as the Okanagan growing season kicks in for another delicious year.

Kelowna orchards are in full bloom so the trees are bursting with colour and fragrance. The timing right now creates a 'sweet spot' where the variety of trees in bloom at one time is at its max with colours and flowers that include blossoming cherries, peaches, apples, pears, plums, and many others tree fruits.

The foundation of the agriculture industry here in Kelowna began on lush orchards offering top quality tree fruits for the community. Cideries have found a way to promote the natural attributes of the Okanagan apple by transforming them into a delicious drink.

We have a love affair with food. More than just a means of feeding our bodies, food is an experience. It brings us together as families, friends and communities. That love affair begins long before a first bite. It begins with anticipation.


Sterling Springs Chicken is owned and operated by Lisa and Hans Dueck based in Falkland BC. Their chicken truck can be found  bi-weekly at the Kelowna Farmers' & Crafters' Market currently on Springfield.
