Delicious & Local: Amuse Bouche

Monday, February 20, 2017 4:00 PM by Chef Vince Van Wieringen

Whenever it's possible I stop at local farms and orchards to grab my ingredients. Nothing is as delicious as eating fresh, local produce. One of the great places to pick up fresh local produce is the Kelowna Farmers Winter Market where you can usually purchase delicious local root vegetables such as beets.

I love everything that the Cipes family does. Lead by Stephen Cipes, the proprietors of this destination winery have built a beautiful empire where they feature the very best of what the Okanagan has to offer while maintaining solid grass roots.

BC Family Day Adventures in Kelowna

Friday, February 10, 2017 11:00 AM by Matt Ferguson

When I heard that Family Day, celebrated in most of Canada, was also becoming a BC Stat Holiday - I was thrilled!  Another paid day off! And the best part is, the day is dedicated to families. Life gets busy and unfortunately, family fun-times often gets replaced with work and chore-times. So, having a whole day to enjoy with your family is a really welcomed, especially in the middle of winter.

They say the way to someone's heart is through their stomach. Whether you are visiting Kelowna, or if you live in the area, taking your valentine to one of the cooking classes at the romantic Mission Hill Winery in West Kelowna may be the perfect date night activity.  Besides… who wouldn’t want to drink wine in class?!? Sipping on Okanagan wine is a part of this lesson!

Nothing is as delicious as eating fresh, local produce - so whenever possible I stop at local farms and orchards to grab my ingredients. In the winter great one-stop shops are at our Kelowna Farmers’ & Crafters' Market (open most Saturdays 9:00 am - 1:00 pm) and Quality Greens. Several of the needed ingredients can be picked up at these two spots.
