Kelowna orchards are in bloom so the trees are bursting with colour and fragrance. The timing right now creates a 'sweet spot' where the variety of trees in bloom at one time is at its max with colours and flowers that include blossoming cherries, peaches, apples, pears, plums, and many others tree fruits.

My family (the girls especially) love walking through the orchards to see all of the colours and smell the flowers. So, of course, I bring my camera!

Paynter's Fruit Market is a fantastic place to take orchard photos as they have a variety of tree fruits and an array of views on their property. The owners are super nice and very welcoming to those with cameras, just be mindful to not damage any of their beautiful trees.

For someone like myself, who's a bit colour blind, the colours in the orchards really pop on a grey day!  The back roads of East Kelowna are a short drive from downtown and provide the perfect for roadside photo ops. Just be respectful to capture from the roadsides so that you are not trespassing on private property.

Photo tip: If you want to take a great photo of blossoms, try singling out just one branch, or a single cluster of blossoms. It's not important if the sky is sunny or cloudy, with this subject matter, great shots are easy to get!

There aren't many things that smell better than the fragrance of blossoms carried on a spring breeze.

Can't wait to come back and enjoy the fruit from these trees. The girls love to u-pick fresh fruit as well.
