Along with visiting different neighbourhoods in Kelowna during the holiday season to view Christmas light displays, a great way to get into the holiday spirit is to attend some of our community events. Here is a list of a few local events you can enjoy in the coming weeks that will have you singing carols and celebrating the holidays.

Bring the entire family to Summerhill's Christmas Craft Show and Wine Sale. There will be shopping, wine sales, and plenty for the kids to enjoy! Get into the Christmas spirit and plan a family outing to Summerhill's Christmas Craft Show, November 24 and 25.


2. Downtown Kelowna Winter Market & Light Up - December 1

This free community event invites you and your crew downtown to welcome the holiday season. Live entertainment, activities for kids from 1 to 92, skating, food, and, of course, Santa. 3. Okanagan Festival Singers Presents Handel’s Messiah - December 1

This December 1, the Okanagan Festival Singers, under Leroy Wiens, are proud to perform Handel’s beloved ‘Messiah,’ featuring a return of the Okanagan Festival Camerata orchestra, led by Nancy DiNovo, and acclaimed soloists. This is usually a sellout event, so get your tickets now.


4. Sip Into the Season along the Westside Wine Trail - December 2

Sip some wine. See some crafts. Cross some holiday shopping off your list while enjoying an easy afternoon touring the wineries of the Westside Wine Trail. During their Sip into the Season event, visitors travel from winery to winery as they enjoy the works of artisans and crafters at each location, as well as tasty bites and sips.


5. The Nutcracker - December 7 - 9

Experience the magic and wonder of the Christmas season with the treasured holiday classic, The Nutcracker. The Canadian School of Ballet, with guest artists from Ballet Kelowna, will capture the imagination of the entire family, transporting them on an unforgettable journey with Clara, her Nutcracker Prince, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Nutcracker is a Kelowna favourite and a cherished seasonal tradition for audiences of all ages.


6. Elf the Musical – December 5 - 23

Based on the cherished film with Will Ferrell, Elf The Musical is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf!


7. Craft Culture Holiday Market - December 8 - 9

Entering its 6th year, the event features over 175 carefully selected artisans and crafters from BC and beyond, ranging from unique housewares to children's toys. Take the whole family down, and enjoy the kids' area with games and activities, a photo booth, and virtual reality demos! Or grab a group of friends and enjoy a glass of wine while strolling the aisles and enjoying the on-stage entertainment and cooking demos. Soaps, pottery, clothing, woodwork, goodies - they’ve got it all.
