Itinerary - Recreation and Relaxation

Kelowna enjoys the perfect setting for recreation and relaxation.  These itineraries are designed to balance the 2 R’s with fun and fitness.  Many of these suggestions can be experienced year round with a simple change of clothing.

Walking: Start you day with a vigorous walk along Kelowna’s waterfront where you can observe boats and ducks bobbing along the shore, parks and gardens or a walk along Mission Creek Greenway for is ideal for any fitness level.  Starting at the lake, this beautiful walk is fairly flat, well maintained and meanders along Mission Creek for 9.2 kilometers.  In the fall the creek is red with the reflection of Kokanee (landlocked sockeye salmon) as they venture upstream to their spawning grounds.  Kelowna’s winter climate is mild and these walks are crisp and invigorating in the winter months.

Hiking: For the more adventurous you may wish to climb Knox Mountain where the vistas are magnificent.    Book a tour with a local tour company that will take you to alpine meadows and scenic viewpoints while providing information on the flora, fauna and history of Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley.  When the flowers are gone and hillsides blanketed in snow, strap on snowshoes and take a guided tour through the white wilderness.  A night-time trek through a snow covered forest complete with bonfire and goodies is definitely a night to remember.
