Kelowna, BC — Tourism Kelowna is pleased to announce the results of its 2007 Tourism Advisory Council election conducted by electronic ballot this year for the first time. The election results were announced Wednesday, March 7 at the 4th Annual Tourism Kelowna Tourism Industry Event at the Coast Capri Hotel.

The elected Tourism Advisory Council (TAC) is a committee of Tourism Kelowna that is committed to increasing year-round tourism in Kelowna and the surrounding area. The role of the TAC is to advise on, approve, and monitor the marketing objectives, and overall direction of Tourism Kelowna on behalf of the local tourism industry.

Eligible voters were those tourism-related voting members of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. Other items on the Tourism Industry Event’s Agenda included: a morning workshop on harnessing the Web in online marketing by e-marketing firm A Couple Of Chicks’ Nancy Smith, and a panel discussion on “Optimizing Your e-Marketing Tactics” with speakers from the Canadian Tourism Commission, Google, and TripAdvisor.
